Ibiza boasts an endless array of small coves and calas, so many that I did not manage to see all of them during my year living on the island. In fact, you could make a full time job out of visiting and reviewing every beach; each with its own unique characteristic or special quality.
During my visit back, I was taken to Cala Xarraca, a pebble beach on the North of the island. Being there out of season (early May) meant that the cala’s narrow beachfront was not crowded and we enjoyed a beautifully peaceful afternoon there.
Although I would not recommend the restaurant, which was overpriced and poor quality compared to other places on the island, Cala Xarraca itself is certainly worth a visit.
The best part of the trip was putting on our trainers and walking over to the rocks to explore the boathouses. Here we found a small, sandy inlet to the sea, leading to a rope swing which was tied from a cliff edge.
The views of the bay when climbing up the top of the cliff above this inlet were breathtaking. It felt very special to return back to the place I’d called home and explore a somewhere I’d never been to before! As I have suggested in many other blog posts, the magic of Ibiza is that it offers endless pockets of blissful nature along the coast.
So with many more calas and beaches to discover, I have no option but to return to island until I have visited all of them. The perfect excuse to go back….
